Jamie-Sue Seal, Founding Artist / Senior Agent
Jamie-Sue studied music, dance and theatre in high school while in a dual enrollment program at Lansing Community College in Michigan where she completed a degree in Applied Arts. And while performing didn’t take much effort, Seal soon found that the music business was as much about the business as it was about the music. So, she started her own record label, learned how to market her gigs, and promote her releases to radio. She booked and toured the country with her band, and received medium airplay rotation on several small market commercial radio stations.
Soon after, other musicians were approaching Seal to manage the business side of their careers. She stepped away from performing and expanded her company to include a booking agency. In 2010, the company's mission as label and promotions took a back seat as the agency's efforts became the main focus.
In just over a year, Seal’s tenacious work ethic and attention to detail caught the eye of a group of agents forming a collective, and she was asked to join seven established agencies as a founding member of Team Agent Network that boasted a roster of successful entertainers including Pat Boone, Pam Tillis and Etta May while continuing to run her independent agency. Not one to cower from a challenge, Seal also completed an eight month certification program through the University Of New Orleans qualifying her as a Performing Arts Management Executive in 2012.
For a decade, from 2008-2018 Jamie-Sue was the Publicist and Board Member for the Ten Pound Fiddle Concert Series established in 1975, one of the oldest and most successful folk clubs in the country. Seal also proudly served on the board of the Ohio Arts Presenters from 2013-2018. In 2013, Smokin' Sleddog Records jumped back into the indie label game and since has released a handful of projects including 3 records by Roots Rock and Blues artist, John Latini, whose album "The Blues Just Makes Me Feel Good" received over 43 shining reviews and claimed the #23 spot in 2018 for Best Contemporary Blues Album on the Roots Report Chart.
Other notable releases include all-female Jazz project "Momentum - Portraits of Women In Motion" by Ellen Rowe's Octet (Tia Fuller, Ingrid Jensen, Allison Miller, Marion Hayden, Lisa Parrott, Virginia Mayhew, Melissa Gardiner), and "Into The Light" by Jazz vocalist Sunny Wilkinson (Quartet). Irish American musicians Siusan O'Rourke & Zig Zeitler also received regional honors for "Best Celtic Album Of The Year" for their album "Chance The Arm" in 2014 by Celtic Echoes. Jamie-Sue with duo partner John Latini in Bottle Rocket Cabaret received two film music awards (Garden State Film Festival and Utah) for the composition and recording of the theme song "Pie Equals Love" from the multiple award winning documentary "Pie Lady Of Pie Town".
In addition to attending several booking and music conferences, and conducting professional development sessions, Jamie-Sue has the occasional chance to perform, serve as the music director at her church, and spend time with her husband of 34 years, and their beloved dogs Little Jack Sparrow and Shasta Pearl. The agency roster has grown to include Grammy Award Winner, Mike Farris, Jazz artist Annie Sellick, Billboard-charting contemporary strings duo The Moxie Strings, and a host of other talented artists whom she passionately represents. _________________________
